FLOOD MITIGATION PROJECT OF BRAHMAPUTRA RIVER, INDIA

Emas Kiara Group – Thinh Toan Joint Venture successfully completed a 5km geodyke project awarded by the State Government of Assam, India. Decades of flooding had destroyed villages and pauperized inhabitants living by the Brahmaputra river banks. The embankment protected 500,000 civilians during last year’s floods.

The project marks a major milestone on the Group’s engineering capability in executing projects of such nature internationally. The project was an innovative method pioneered by the State Government who declared it a remarkable engineering success.

THE NEW LOW COST CARRIER TERMINAL (LCCT)

Emas Kiara Group executing ground improvement works at the new RM 2 billion Low Cost Carrier Terminal adjacent to KL International Airport (KLIA) at Sepang, Malaysia. The contracts include the fast paced supply and installation of more than 60 million meters of prefabricated vertical drains (PVD), 7 million square meters of woven/non woven geotextiles and geogrids. Execution of the project within a short time frame had brought the group to the forefront in the PVD industry

EROSION PROTECTION OF SHORELINES

Design and installation of geotextiles as basal reinforcement for the construction of two man-made islands at Pantai Kok, Langkawi, Malaysia. The engineering feat involved the innovative positioning and sinking of mega sized prefabricated reinforcement geotextiles to form the support base to form two islands that will serve as wave breakers to mitigate shoreline erosion. Geodykes installed as near-shore breakwaters to protect the mangrove shorelines allowing natural re-generation of mangrove swamp and its marine life.
