The Basics

INNOGREEN® Standard is manufactured from 100% coir fibre or palm fibre stitched together on both sides with polypropylene nettings. They are biodegradable and supplied in easily handled rolls. The mat is designed to be effective as a soil erosion protection system to non-vegetated soil slopes promoting the establishment of vegetation.

• Natural fibres readily absorb water and swell to act as mini dams. This slows surface water run-off minimizing gullying and soil loss.
• Retains soil moisture for enhanced vegetation growth.
• Seed loss due to water flushing is greatly reduced.
• Protects and insulates the seeds. Helps create optimal
conditions for seed germination.
• Encourage plant root reinforcement.
• The natural fibres biodegrades and decomposes with time,

associated with high velocities on steep slopes and channels.
• Light, it is suitable for very soft ground and peaty areas.
• This system can resist flow rates in excess of 4m/s for up to
two days, providing twice the erosion protection of
un-reinforced vegetation (Carroll, Rodencal and Theisen,
1991).
